デザイン・アートとしてのボードゲーム
本展では、日本のボードゲームシーンで活動する6組のクリエイター・出版社の作品を通して、多様なものづくりのあり方に目を向けます。アートワーク、コンポーネントデザイン、制作背景、そして作り手の考えなど、普段遊ぶだけでは見えない「ボドゲ制作の舞台裏」を紹介します。
日本では、ゲームマーケットをはじめとするボードゲームイベントや、ファミリー向けの催しなど、さまざまな場所でボードゲームに触れる機会が広がっています。
URABAKOでは、「デザインやものづくり」という視点からボードゲームを見る機会をつくります。
ゲームとしての面白さだけでなく、アートワーク、グラフィックデザイン、コンポーネント、パッケージ、そしてそれらが生まれるまでの制作過程にも目を向けます。
デザインショップやギャラリーでプロダクトを見るように、ボードゲームをじっくり眺め、その背景にあるアイデアや工夫に触れていただきます。
本展が、普段からボードゲームで遊ぶ方はもちろん、デザインやアート、ものづくりに興味を持つ方にとっても、ボードゲームの新しい一面と出会うきっかけになることを目指します。
・ゲームの「箱の向こう側」を見る: アートワークやコンポーネント、試作品、制作過程など、完成したゲームだけでは見えないものづくりの裏側を紹介します。
・さまざまなボードゲームに出会う: 見た目も、遊び方も、テーマも異なる作品を展示。普段ボードゲームを遊ばない方にも、その幅広さを楽しんでいただけます。
・実際に遊んでみる: 展示作品の一部は、プレイスペースで実際に遊ぶことができます。
・気に入ったゲームを購入する:「The Tenth Mosaic」会場内のショップでは、一部の展示作品を購入できます。

The Design and Art of Board Games
Through works by six creators and publishers active in Japan’s board game scene, the exhibition explores the many different approaches that go into creating a board game. From artwork and component design to the stories behind their development and the ideas of their creators, URABAKO reveals aspects of board game making that players rarely get to see.
In Japan, opportunities to discover board games continue to grow, from events such as Game Market to festivals and activities aimed at families. URABAKO offers a different way of experiencing them: through the perspective of design and craftsmanship.
Beyond the games themselves, the exhibition invites visitors to take a closer look at their artwork, graphic design, components, packaging, and the creative processes that bring them to life.
Much like examining an object in a design shop or gallery, visitors are encouraged to slow down and look closely at each board game, discovering the ideas, decisions, and ingenuity behind its creation.
Whether you already enjoy board games or are simply interested in design, art, and making things, URABAKO aims to offer a new perspective on the world of board games.
Look Beyond the Box: Discover what lies behind the finished game through artwork, components, prototypes, and materials documenting the creative process.
Discover a Variety of Board Games: Explore games with widely different visual styles, mechanics, and themes. Even visitors who don't usually play board games can discover the remarkable diversity of the medium.
Sit Down and Play: A selection of the games featured in the exhibition will be available to play in a dedicated play area.
Take a Game Home: Selected games featured in the exhibition will also be available for purchase at the The Tenth Mosaic venue shop.
